Arthur Hood: The Man Who Never Quits

Spending his childhood in the Deep South, Arthur
Hood had always envisioned a better life for himself.
While he enjoyed the successes of his family’s
chemical business, he felt no desire to follow in their
footsteps. While most kids spent their summer jobs
cleaning pools and mowing lawns, Arthur spent
his learning about construction equipment. Soon
enough, his knowledge led to the foundation of his
first enterprise, a directional drilling company. By
the time he was 21, he learned his dream was to be
his own boss, and soon enough he started a catfish
farm and trucking company under his umbrella of
enterprises.
Though his smaller businesses continued to thrive,
Arthur was about to discover a new source of
revenue that would expand upon his typical business
ventures and thrust him into prosperity: real
estate. From investing in single family homes and
commercial real estate, Arthur was able to expand
his influence and prosperity onto the community.
“Real estate is the best hedge on inflation,” Hood
noted. “ It’s much better than cash in the bank.”
This lesson has helped Arthur carry on the success
he’s built over the years. Not only was Arthur
cementing lasting investment into his capital, but
also into the community as well. He had purchased
several LGBTQ bars across the nation to ensure that
these bars remain anchors to the gay community.
His Chicago bar Fantasy Nightclub has a large
Latinx customer base and it, like many bars, serves as
a community and cultural focal point.
His leather bar in Atlanta, the Atlanta Eagle is
a focal point of the Atlanta leather community.
Hosting numerous charity events and contests, it is a
vital part of that scene.
But the spectacle of the clubs is not his only
interest. He also invests money into private security
companies that protect many LGBTQ businesses,
including his own, as a way to make sure everyone
can feel safe and comfortable in such an inclusive
space.
Aside from the entertainment market, Arthur
continues to invest in the business sector His latest
venture Your Space America has six self-storage
projects in development that have amassed over
$400 million in total equity in sites in Las Vegas,
Phoenix, Tucson and California. He also maintains
nearly a dozen real estate development projects on
the Alabama Gulf Coast, ranging from several multiunit
condominium complex sales to residential
houses and multi-house communities.

So with a life of constant projects and
developments, what does Arthur see in the future?
Never content to stay still, he continues to make
long term investments in the economy, and the
future, of his community. His success in business
and real estate has helped him develop connections
within the healthcare industry, and has helped foster
emerging therapies in medical technology including
telemedicine and ibogaine therapy for treating
PTSD, addiction and trauma.
For now, Arthur and his husband live in Texas,
and continue to push long term investments in
Austin, San Antonio, Dallas, and Houston to
improve the quality of life, and make the future
brighter for himself and the community. Arthur is
always looking for new partnerships and investment
opportunities, and if you are someone you know is
